Third annual CBQB Research Day set for November 6

The third annual Center for Bioinformatics and Quantitative Biology Research Day is scheduled for Monday, November 6 in Thompson Room ABC in Student Center West. The event will run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. that day.
The annual UIC CBQB Research Day will feature a keynote presentation from Dr. Jie Xiao, Professor of Biophysics and Biophysical Chemistry at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. Her talk will focus on chromosome organization, DNA supercoiling and transcription regulation.
The research day will also include oral and poster presentations from graduate and undergraduate students at UIC. Cash awards for the best poster and oral presentations.
The goal of this event is to raise awareness of the exciting research work where bioinformatics, computational biology, and quantitative biology can play important roles, as well as research in developing computational tools and algorithms for understanding quantitatively biological processes. This research covers areas across different size and time scales of molecules, networks, cells, tissue, and ecological communities.
All undergraduate and graduate students, as well as postdoctoral fellows/research associates, at UIC who are engaged in bioinformatics and quantitative biology research, are encouraged to submit an abstract and participate in the CBQB Research Day.
